To me, my grandmother, Helen Kaufman, represented the epitome of love, strength, and loyalty.  She was strong in character, and had a tender, loving, and generous heart which opened up to all of her loved ones.

I will remember my grandmother as a caring and vivacious woman who loved her children and grandchildren no matter how difficult life was.  I will remember my grandmother for her strength and loyalty towards my grandfather and how she took care of him over the years.  Even after his heart attack which left him dependent upon her, she was by his side regardless of her own condition.  This is but a glimpse of my grandmother’s altruistic virtue.

I will remember my grandmother’s beautiful, vibrant hazel eyes which emanated love and compassion to those she looked upon, and her lively smile which enlightened the room and everyone in it.

My admiration for my grandmother runs deep.  I learned so much from her, that I wish I could capture her true essence in words, but I cannot.  That is why knowing my grandmother was truly beautiful.

So now, grandmother, I would like to wish you love, peace, and best wishes on your journey.  You will always have a special place in my heart.

I would like to share with you the memories of my grandfather, David Kaufman, that I carry within my heart....

I will remember my grandfather as a caring and devoted husband throughout times of hardship and joy,

I will remember my grandfather as a gentle and kind man who lent a helping hand to friends and family,

I will remember the way my grandfather exuberantly disciplined me as a little boy, and how he carried himself with dignity.

Most of all, I will remember my grandfather for his understanding and unconditional love towards his loved ones, for he was not only disciplined, but profound.

Grandfather, with love I wish you peace on your journey.  May you reunite with grandmother and watch over us with the love and care you both shared with each other and with those you loved....
